NHS sexual health
Here you can find information and advice about NHS sexual health services.
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
If you have had unprotected sex, there’s a chance you may have an STI. There’s nothing to worry about if you think you might have an STI. Most infections can be cured with the right medication.
If you think that you might have an STI, then you can contact your GP for help. You can also get tested and treated for STIs at your local sexual health clinic.
You should arrange to get tested if you:
- Have symptoms, such as an unusual discharge or spots
- Do not have symptoms but are worried that you might have an STI
- Think that there’s something wrong.
Find a sexual health clinic
A sexual health clinic is a place to go and get tested and treated for STIs. You can book an appointment at your local sexual health clinic. You might feel embarrassed, but there’s no need to be. The staff are there to treat you and will do their best to make sure you feel at ease.
Anyone can go to an NHS sexual health clinic and your appointment is confidential. If you’re under the age of 16, the service is still confidential and the clinic won’t tell your parents.
